The East–West Dialogue Association grew out of a long-standing international educational initiative that began in 1999 within a German framework dedicated to building connections through dialogue and shared learning. From its earliest stages, the initiative was shaped through close cooperation between educators in Israel and Germany who believed in the power of direct human encounters to create understanding across cultures.
Over the years, this collaboration developed into a sustained educational partnership centered on youth delegations, intercultural encounters, and joint learning programs. Teams from both countries worked together on an ongoing basis, leading seminars, cultural meetings, and exchange initiatives that created meaningful personal and educational connections.
The projects brought together young people from diverse backgrounds within Israeli society — including participants from different cultural, religious, and community groups — alongside youth from Europe. The work focused on personal dialogue, identity exploration, shared learning, and the creation of long-term human connections.
For more than two decades, the initiative operated through international cooperation and the commitment of dedicated educators, facilitators, coordinators, partners, and volunteers. These teams formed a strong human network based on shared values, collaboration, and a common educational vision.
In 2026, the Israeli organization East–West Dialogue was formally established as an independent association in order to institutionalize and expand the activity that had developed over many years, and to strengthen the ongoing connection between Israel, Europe, and the East.
